Master of Education (M.Ed.) – Dual Awards from IBES and UCAM

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) is a 90 ECTS credits programme awarded by Institut Brittany d’Enseignement Supérieur (IBES) and Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM) and specifically designed for teachers, teacher leaders, educational leaders and those involved in public and corporate training. The focus is on theoretical understandings and practical applications that meet the needs of professionals in the rapidly changing complex educational landscape.  It offers an opportunity for in-depth examination of current thinking, theories, models, issues and practices that contribute to the transformation of educational institutions. The programme seeks to enhance the knowledge and expertise of participants and their ability to reflect and relate theory to their professional practice.

Aims

  • Facilitating advanced study of educational leadership and management and the changing external context in which the education sector operates.
  • Equip individuals for and/or the development of a managerial-leadership career in the education sector, fostering skills at a professional or equivalent level to assume senior managerial and leadership positions.
  • Development of the ability to apply knowledge and understanding of strategic planning, leadership, and change management to systematically, innovatively, and creatively improve education provision.

Students have a choice of gaining an M.Ed. with specialisation as set out below, which will only be evident on the IBES transcript:

Assessments

  • 100% of the assessment is through coursework and assignments for the taught modules.
  • The final work-based project report on the specialisation has a word count of between 12,000 – 15,000 words.

Upon completion of the six taught modules and the work-based capstone project, students will gain a dual award and will be awarded a Master of Education from the IBES and UCAM.

Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree qualification in any subject from a recognised institution**; OR
  • A professional qualification equivalent to a degree and a minimum of two years of working experience
  • Demonstrate English Language proficiency to participate in the programme taught in English

** A qualification from a recognised university is a degree or diploma that has been awarded by an institution that is accredited or otherwise recognised by a relevant authority of the country.

Proficiency in English includes either a recognised English proficiency testing score of IELTS overall band of 5.5 or equivalent. Those who have undertaken either an undergraduate or professional qualification taught and assessed in English will also be accepted as having met the English proficiency requirement.

Subject to the final approval of IBES, any potential student who has a qualification examined in English at European Qualification Framework ( EQF) level 3 and above would satisfy the English requirement.

For those that are not able to provide the above proof of English, an English test administered by ESOL Awards is available and on passing this at B2 level, the learner would satisfy the English language requirement.

The M.Ed. has a total of 90 ECTS credits and comprises of 6 taught modules at 10 ECTS credits each and a Work Based Project at 30 ECTS credits.

The work-based learning project must relate to your chosen specialisation.

You should use a range of quantitative and qualitative methods for providing information and evaluating options.  You will need to demonstrate an in-depth critical understanding of your chosen aspect of education, including your management problem-solving and decision-making skills and techniques.

Master of Arts in TESOL – Dual Awards from IBES and UCAM

The Master of Arts in TESOL is a 90 ECTS credits programme delivered by Institut Brittany d’Enseignement Supérieur (IBES) and with dual awards from Institut Brittany d’Enseignement Supérieur (IBES) and Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM).

The Master of Arts in TESOL has been designed to look at the various approaches, theories, principles, and pedagogical constructs in the Teaching of English as a Second Language to others whose first language is other than English.

Aims

The Master of Arts in TESOL has been designed to provide learners with an introduction to current research, theories, principles and practices in the teaching of the English Language. It will enable them to acquire a range of practical skills for teaching English as a second/ foreign language, and will prepare them to engage independently and critically with current language teaching and research issues. It will give learners the research skills they need to investigate language learning, and tools that will help them to reflect on their practice and develop their individual pedagogy and advance their career in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

The 6 core modules will allow learners to develop in-depth knowledge of approaches to second-language teaching, theories of second-language learning, research methods, and ways to analyse the linguistic systems of English for teaching purposes. This will give them a solid foundation of professional knowledge and expertise in preparation for a teaching placement and provide skills to continue their professional development.

The dissertation will allow them to connect the knowledge acquired on the programme to specialist areas such as teaching methodology, lesson planning, language assessment, the development of teaching materials, and teaching English in a variety of contexts.

Assessments

The modules are assessed through a work-based management report, assignments and/or case studies or simulations.

The work-based management report shall be between 3,500 – 4,000 words.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) – Dual Awards from IBES and VERN University

The MBA is a 90 ECTS credits programme for all off-campus delivery. It is a dual award MBA so graduates will receive an MBA from IBES, France and VERN University, Croatia.

This dual award qualification route helps nurture integration, collaboration, and change to improve individual and team performance to enable you to live and work in the new era of interconnected and international businesses.

Aims

The aim of the MBA is to develop and enhance the understanding of emerging theories and practices on contemporary management. The MBA facilitates a critical exploration of the role of business in a complex multi-stakeholder society, and the connectedness of business with society and the increasingly global and networked economy.

The programme will provide participants with the essential skills as well as the advanced knowledge and understanding of international business and strategic management.

The programme follows a problem-based learning approach, and participants will be expected to demonstrate how they have utilised their learning and development in solving business related issues and problems by integrating and building on perspectives from the course and the literature, and their own contexts through an End Point Assessment via a Reflective Development Log and Portfolio as well as a Work Based Project.

Assessments

Instead of individual assessments for each module, learners compile a reflective and evidence-based professional development portfolio. This is to demonstrate the acquisition and application (in the work place) of the knowledge, skills and attributes showcasing managerial development.

There will be an End Point Assessment of the professional development.

In addition, there will be a Work Based Project of between 9,000 and 10,000 words in their chosen specialisation.

On completion of the 6 taught modules and the Work Based Project, students will gain a dual award and will be awarded an MBA from:

  1. IBES; and
  2. VERN University.

Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree qualification in any subject from a recognised institution.
  • A professional qualification equivalent to a degree and a minimum of two years of working experience.
  • Mature and high potential candidates without degree or equivalent qualifications but hold Diplomas or Advanced Diplomas with more than six years of work experience of which at least two years are at supervisory / managerial level.
  • Mature and high potential candidates without Diploma qualifications but with more than eight years of work experience of which at least three years are at supervisory /managerial levels.
  • Demonstrate English Language proficiency in order to participate in the programme taught in English.

A Professional Development Portfolio of 5,500 – 6,000-words. This includes a Reflective Log plus appendices consisting of collection of a relevant artefacts to support an achievement of work-based knowledge, behaviours, and attributes to be submitted within two months of completing the last module

Work Based Project 

The Work Based Project of between 9,000 and 10,000 words accrues 30 ECTS credits.

MBA – awarded by the University of Gloucestershire

When you successfully complete your LEB Professional Diploma in Business Administration (PDBA) or other postgraduate diploma taught in English and approved by UOG , you can continue your studies to obtain a MBA by completing the Master’s Stage with LEB through a collaborative arrangement with the University of Gloucestershire.  It requires that you undertake research methods training followed by a dissertation delivered and supervised by LEB  

The PDBA which has been accredited with 120 credits and level 11 (equivalent to EQF level 7) by a Credit Rating Body of the SCQF (Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework) only requires successful learners to undertake the 60 credit research methods training and dissertation with LEB.

Learners who successfully complete the PDBA will be awarded a Professional Diploma in Business Administration which will be internationally recognised. The Dissertation of the University of Gloucestershire MBA

The purpose of the dissertation is to allow the learner to carry out a self-managed piece of work that provides an in-depth investigation of an issue relevant to the field of management and business. The dissertation allows the learner to critically evaluate and synthesise relevant business related philosophies, theories and models, undertake a process of enquiry using primary and/or secondary data sources and critically relate these academic concepts to a relevant area of business management activity. The dissertation allows for an analytical study of academic topics within the context of practical business decision making and can thereby contribute to the body of knowledge in the domain of management and business. The reflective element of the dissertation will give the learner an opportunity to critically analyse and evaluate their learning journey.

80% Dissertation / Major Project: 15,000 words
